Getting the recommended 30-60 minutes of exercise daily can often be difficult to achieve. Whether we lack the time, motivation, exercise equipment, etc.. Even if we want to be physically active, it seems like there is always a barrier between us and achieving an exercise routine. I’ve finally discovered my go-to daily workout that’s surprisingly easy but helps keep me active and healthy. What is it? Walking! Shocking, I know. We’re always under the impression that in order to have a productive workout we have to be drenched in sweat and sore for days afterwards. And when we don’t have the motivation for that (which many of us rarely do), why even bother at all? But that’s not true at all, you can still benefit from exercise even if it doesn’t leave you physically exhausted afterwards.
I’m letting you know from personal experience, walking has been a life changer. For me personally, walking has been an excellent way to bring myself to the present, clear my mind, and enjoy my own company. I promise you as you start walking more and more often you won’t even think about skipping your workout for the day, because you feel so much calmer, refreshed, and accomplished when you’re done. Seriously, even when you don’t feel like working out just start walking down your street or around the block. Throw on an audio-book, podcast, or your favorite motivational playlist and before you know it you’ll be done with your workout. You’ll feel so incredibly good afterwards that you’ll begin craving a good walk and that good feeling everyday, and working out suddenly becomes a pleasure.
So go set that timer for 20, 30, 40 minutes or for as long as you want and just start walking.
